The Kvarteret Poolen office building in Stockholm, with a total area of 35,000 sqm, built by NCC, has been announced as Building of the Year 2023, winning in competition against 18 other developments. In its justification, the competition's jury called out its innovation and sustainable approach in the context of economic, social, and environmental development. As a subcontractor of NCC, we made railings inside and outside the building, including on the driveways for people with disabilities. Thanks to an innovative mixed-use approach, it was possible to realize the long-awaited swimming pool on a site that, due to high construction costs, would otherwise have allowed only office buildings. The building, within a short time of completion, became a well-recognized symbol and a new landmark. Environmentally, it has been classified as BREEM Excellent.
